Trash’n’Roll in Melbourne’s alleys

27 Aug

A fantastic night out with some friends to watch another friend, the fabulous Suzy Watusi of trashtastic girl band the Shimmys, perform at the Melbourne opening of Faster Pussycat. The crowd were unbelievably beautiful and gorgeously groomed – men were tattooed, pierced and slicked (and so were the women).

Shame of the night: dancing and knowing every. single. word. to Melanie Safka’s “Brand New Key”. And not taking the camera.

Discovery of the night: fantastic laneway Japanese that can seat about 7 people and the new pickup technique (someone asks your name and, as you lean in to tell them, they go the smoochador).

Disappointment of the night: no cute Joe Strummeralike to drag home…
