Things to love: cool changes

18 Feb

There are a million and one ways to love this city but one of the most sublime is when a cool change hits. Thick clouds roll in from the bay and dapple and dart cooling relief. It’s an indescribable joy to sit on the balcony and cool my feet while sneaking in a cheeky cig and watching the bats fly overhead. More so when you heal the peal of trams and clumsy sprint of trains.

Melbourne is beautiful in any kind of weather and wears colour so deftly and yet, in a curiously perverse act, is possibly at its most beautiful when grey. The cool wet sealskin of roads and stone are truly beautiful, especially when tickled with wind.

Fuck, I hate summer.
